ACCRU Launches Podcast to Tell the Stories behind Our Members’ Research

ACCRU News & Releases – March 17, 2022

ACCRU has launched a monthly podcast called “ACCRU Transformative Research” to tell the stories behind the innovative ideas and unique collaboration of our members. We want to celebrate our collective, creative genius and get the word out about the impact of our work together at ACCRU. Our growing community and the progress it is making is worth talking about!

Our goal is to explore the latest discoveries by you, our members, and how those advances are being developed into new therapies for cancer treatment and symptom management. While progress is almost always incremental in translational research, the impact of our members’ research is dramatic and life-changing for patients.

While intended to be a channel to the wider scientific community, the podcast is first and foremost designed to create a sense of common mission and a greater sense of community among ACCRU members. “Monthly podcast episodes will highlight ACCRU investigators,” said Dr. Bekaii-Saab, Professor of Oncology at Mayo Clinic and the ACCRU Consortium Chair, “that are leading forward-looking transformative research.”

The ACCRU podcast will be hosted by two ACCRU researchers: Dr. Ciara O’Sullivan and Dr. Kristen Ciombor. Dr. O’Sullivan is an Assistant Professor of Oncology at Mayo Clinic, specializing in breast cancer and developmental therapeutics. Dr. Ciombor is an Associate Professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology Medicine at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The two researchers will share hosting responsibilities as the podcast grows its listenership.

“We hope you will add this podcast to your playlist and engage in the conversation. We plan to post a link to each episode on our social media pages, Twitter and LinkedIn, where you can post comments.

“Our goal is to connect ACCRU researchers with updates on the groundbreaking research that is being translated into new ACCRU clinical trials,” said Dr. Goetz the ACCRU Vice Chair and Erivan K. Haub Family Professor of Cancer Research Honoring Richard F. Emslander, M.D. at Mayo Clinic.

Our first episode with Dr. Keith Knutson has already been published. You can listen to it at Immunologist Dr. Keith Knutson on the Promise of Cancer Vaccines. Be sure to forward the link to a colleague or friend in the scientific community.
